On the first day in Salamanca we had two priorities: food and information. And so we set off up the hill with a slightly heavy heart to find the market and the tourist office.
After five very enjoyable nights in the Paradore of Ciudad Rodrigo we were on the road from Ciudad Rodrigo to Salamanca.

It is always a pleasure to just wander in an old town, and exploring corners in Ciudad Rodrigo was no exception.
We had ambitious plans to explore in the countryside around the town, but my walking time was quite limited. Instead we explored the town, including some of the Palaces in Ciudad Rodrigo.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria in Ciudad Rodrigo is a wonderful building, filled with beautiful details but also having a spiritual atmosphere. We were fortunate to have the space to ourselves when we visited.
