We spent our last two nights in Spain at Tui on the Mino River, which is also the border with Portugal.
It was another fine day in Baiona and it was time to move on, over the Ria de Vigo to Pontevedra in Galicia, en route to our destination for the night, Cambados.
You can make an interesting day trip from Baiona down the coast to Oia, A Guarda, and the Castro of Santa Tecla. Then return on the inland road. We had lovely weather and it was a fascinating day.
The town of Baiona in Galicia has a long and very varied history! We only had two days so it was a very brief ‘dip’ into the area and its history.
The Parador in Baiona, Conde de Gondomar, is a magical place to stay for a few days – an elegant hotel inside the walls of the old Fortress of Monterreal, and on a promontory in a bay.
