Flowers & Trees in Graaff Reinet

posted in: Home, South Africa | 1

The streets in Graaff Reinet are lined with trees and the gardens are beautiful – a startling contrast to the surrounding austerity of the Karoo. A description of the town in 1889 says: ‘…By bringing into it the waters of a small river, the people have made of this originally sterile spot a delicious oasis. All the streets are bordered with orange and lemon-trees, with oleanders and syringas…’.

Hi I’m sure you have received the answer already, but the odd apple in the pictures looks like an Asian pear.

I would love to hear from you!
