Wanderings in Graaff Reinet

In the mornings and evenings I wandered through the streets of Graaff Reinet – it was quiet and I loved the white walls of the houses, and the dark green doors and shutters. We stayed in one of the listed buildings, Mossievale, no.7 Park Street – wonderful, I can highly recommend it to you.

I love the long stoeps – verandahs to the English!

The doors and the fanlights were wonderful. And all over Graaff Reinet the bouganvillea enhanced doors, pergolas, walls.

    • The old town is very beautiful, and the houses are very well adapted to the climate. People sit on the stoep in the summer and the breeze keeps it cool, and the shutters on the windows keep the heat out in the summer, and in in the winter
