The Parador of Cangas de Onis was a wonderfully relaxing last stop on our travels in Spain. It stands on the banks of the Sella River just outside the town and in the foothills of the Picos de Europa.
The N621 and N625 roads from Leon to Cangas de Onis are quite simply spectacular! Do not miss an opportunity to travel on these roads rather than the motorway if you possibly can.

The Parador in Zamora is the former palace of the counts of Alba de Aliste, a beautiful 15th century Renaissance palace built in the center of the old city.
All through our travels we found the Duero or one of its tributaries – Soria, Avila, Salamanca – and now we had the Duero in Zamora.
We particularly wanted to see The Semana Santa Museum in Zamora, but found it had closed in 2022 with no indication when it will reopen. The floats in the museum have been relocated into churches around the town, which is … Continued
The Cathedral in Zamora stands on the end of the promontory, overlooking the River Duero. We visited last year but I was keen to visit again. Buildings like this are very complex and you can always find something ‘new’.
