The Duero in Zamora

All through our travels we found the Duero or one of its tributaries – Soria, Avila, Salamanca – and now we had the Duero in Zamora.

The river here is very beautiful and we walked along it, on the side opposite to the town, on two occasions. The previous year we had done the same thing.

There are mills on the river, near the Church of Olivares, which are now a museum. We visited last year and there is more information here.

Operator error here – somehow I set the camera with a hideously high ISO which means the photos were very grainy. Yes, ‘denoise’ in Lightroom will deal with this, but the result is unattractive. So instead I converted to black and white and tried to convince myself these were old photographs. Well, you have to try something! These mills are further upstream on the river.

And one final attempt at colour – trying to imitate painting.

It is always a pleasure to walk along the Duero in Zamora. It is peaceful, there are birds, and there is always someone fishing, canoeing or just sitting and looking at the river.

I would love to hear from you!
