It was a beautiful sunny morning and we decided on a circular walk from the Paradore of Zamora. And then later in the day there was time to think about a few of the corners in Zamora which were fun and visit the Plaza Mayor for the last time.
The Castle
The Castle in Zamora is on the tip of the promontory, next to the Cathedral, and dates from the Middle Ages. This year we didn’t go inside as we had previously visited.

Romanesque churches in Zamora
There are numerous beautiful Romanesque churches in the town. The Church of Santiago la Viejo is the oldes church in Zamora and is in fact outside the walls, just below the castle and the cathedral and in meadows next to the river.

The Church of La Magdalena is down the street from the Parador.

The Church of Santiago del Burgo is 12th century and near to the closed market in the old town.

Views and corners in Zamora
I love the sights round most corners; miradora, views over the river, the wine shop where we indulged in Christmas wines, little gardens, shopping streets, the lovely boutiques, statues and architecture.

We didn’t see any storks in Zamora this time, which was unusual. Someone told us the weather was too warm. These were the only heads we saw on church towers, or anywhere, and we couldn’t even be sure these were storks.

The Market
The market is rather lovely on the outside but it was not really functioning when we visited, which is to say there were only a few stalls open, including the fish stall of course.

And finally
Exploring the corners of any town, including the corners in Zamora, is tiring and at some point in the day you need to sit down…!

I would love to hear from you!
