There are two main parks in Monforte de Lemos, both along the River Cabe, magnolia trees line the roads in the town centre and there are plants on balconies. Monforte has many green spaces and corners, and apparently there are more than a dozen parks in the town!
The Parque dos Condes
The Park of the Dukes of Conde is in the centre of the town, next to the Esculapios College. In 1990 the park was created out of land belonging to the College, with a large, free car park. This seems to be the biggest and most obvious of the parks in Monforte de Lemos. Apparently there is a Flea Market in the car park on Sundays, and trips along the river leave from a pier in the park.

Hillside parks in Monforte de Lemos
The Zapardiel Park is on the hillside under the Parador and it merges with the Dos Lureiros Park. Basically, the hillside is a wooded park with paved paths down into the town.

River Parks in Monforte de Lemos
At the bottom of the Zapardiel Park the Rua Cabe leads to the river and a small park on the river banks. The Paseo Malecon is on the town side of the park and this walk continues on to the Roman Bridge in the centre of the town.

Green spaces in the town
While the centre of the old town was not as colourful as Villafranca del Bierzo there was enough planting to soften the streets and buildings.

I did not have time to visit all the parks in Monforte de Lemos but I enjoyed the green spaces which I did see.
