The walk to the Mushroom Rock starts at the Glen Reenen Rest Camp where you buy a day ticket which enables you to walk or take one of the two drives into the Golden Gate National Park.

The map issued by the Information Office shows this as a circular walk, suggesting a return over the top of the rock, but the map is misleading. This walk is either a ‘there and back’, or a circular walk in which you return on the road which is not recommended.

It was spectacular – and although the flowers are not dominant, they are beautiful and interesting

You really got some lovely shots of the Mushroom Rocks Walk! Golden Gate’s such a spectacular place, isn’t it? I am lucky enough to actually be walking around the chalets at the Golden Gate Hotel at this very moment, enjoying the birds’ dawn chorus and the crisp mountain air.
Thank you for linking to our blog, it is genuinely appreciated!

Thank you! I loved being there and could easily spend many days there with the camera – the light changes all the time. More posts to come!
