La Roche-Maurice

And finally a visit to La Roche-Maurice before returning to Sizun. What a day!

The Church of St Yves, La Roche-Maurice, was built between 1509-89 and is currently being renovated. It should be another spectacular church, ossuary, calvary, and archway when completed. (St Yves was a Brittany man.)

The Ossuary dates to 1640 and was built as a Chapel, to St Anne. It is a Renaissance building, with Greek/Roman columns and pediments – curious in this small village, but very elegant.

The Castle is now a ruin but this was clearly an important site – urghh! Wish I knew more!
