Bradshaw’s Hand Book to London and its Environs

posted in: Bradshaw in London, Home | 0

Bradshaw is guiding me through London in a series of Day Tours, pointing out significant buildings. I am following his routes carefully, but taking twice the time!

Hints for further exploration are popping up: ‘fine warehouses‘ in the City are not explored and ‘steamboats’ on the Thames are only mentioned in passing. Newspapers (which ones?) were posted everywhere and anywhere, and there was an underground telegraph system (who used it?) There were ‘cheesemongers’ in Upper Thames Street (who supplied them?) Garlic was sold in this part of the vintry – did you know the Victorians used garlic?

Mr Bradshaw is going to keep me busy for some time yet!

I would love to hear from you!
