Perhaps you can see why the Church of St Suliau in Sizun is my favourite church amongst the Parish Enclosures in Brittany?
As always there are statues of the saints, crucifixes, creating some beautiful quiet moments.
The organ is by Thomas Dallam and dates from 1673. Last year, on a magical evening, the organist was playing – Bach – as we entered the Church and the sound is wonderful.
The Baptistry is ornately carved, and painted, and a similar leafy theme is in the carved choir stalls.
A wonderful place to just sit and think.
In the next post I will share with you the wonderfully carved beams and sablières, and the blue, vaulted ceiling.
I would love to hear from you!
