It was our last day in Gouesn’ach and I planned a cross-country route to Sizun. However, it dawned grey and wet, with low cloud – not a good day for looking at gardens or wandering around a town. Instead we returned to Quimper to visit the covered market and the Fine Arts Museum.
The covered market, Les Halles St François, is in the centre of the old town and very easily accessible from the carparks on the quayside of the Odet River. Fantastic!!
The variety and quality of French cheeses is well-known, but look at the butter counter! I just love the salted butter of Brittany – little crunchy bits of salt in butter which tastes like cheese…
The butchers were numerous and good, but look at the poultry choice…
And then there were the fish counters…
The naughty bits…
The ladies making crepes…
All fantastic and exactly the reason for self-catering holidays in France!
