Just outside Camaret-sur-Mer is one of the many Neolithic structures in Brittany, the Lagatjar Alignments. The stones were discovered in 1776 when there were apparently c.600 standing stones. By 1883 only c.100 stones remained and today that has been further reduced to 80 stones. The stones are apparently aligned with sunrise at the Winter Solstice and date to 2,500BC. The site for information about such structures is http://www.megalithic.co.uk

Those stones are amazing, so rugged and unfinished. Fancy having them in your backyard.

Yes, it was amazing, but somehow it was not atmospheric – perhaps there was too much sunshine! Carnac, on the other hand, was a different matter.

I love that — “Too much sunshine”. I suppose those places do need swirling mists to help us imagine that we can see the fleeting figure.

What an nteresting place…I do love standing stones…looks a bit like Avebury! I went to Stonehenge last month for the first time in many many years…it was still magnificent despite not being up next to the stones and the tourist management system worked really well.
