Ti Ar Boudiged, Brennilis

posted in: France, Home | 0

There is clear signposting to this extraordinary tomb just outside the small village of Brennilis. Ti Ar Boudiged (spelt in various ways) is also called La Maison des Fées!

The notice board gives good information. The ‘toothy’ line across the top of the tomb is the intruding field boundary. This is apparently a rare construction, a tomb in ‘V’ form, and dates to c.3,000BC, coming after the dolmens á couloir and allées couvertes. More information on the excellent Megalithic Portal.

The tomb is mainly buried and some suggest that all tombs of this kind were originally buried – how many, therefore, do we walk past, unknowingly?

So, walk done, a dip into the past in Brennilis, now it was time for a coffee!
