It was our first stationary day after all the travelling and we decided a quiet day would be good. I felt ‘unreal’, somehow detached from my surroundings, as well as tired. There had been so much stress leading up to this point that stopping and being ‘stationary’ felt odd.
Walking around Lerma
I explored Lerma extensively in the past, exploring its history, so this was just a little wander, reminding ourselves of the sights we had enjoyed. I was also trying to understand a new camera, and it wasn’t being entirely friendly – or perhaps I was just incompetent…!

Renovating Lerma?
Is the town aiming to attract more visitors?

The centre of Lerma is of course very old, and there are several ramshackle buildings, but we also saw a lot of rebuilding, and renovation.

A new church
We noticed the door was open and so went into the Church of the Monastery of Lerma. Unfortunately the internet is reluctant to tell me anything about this establishment. The church was quiet, and calm, and we remembered friends.

The Arlanza River
The Arlanza River flows past the town and we walked along the walls, below San Pedro, over the Roman bridge, and into the fields beyond the town.

A quiet day in Lerma allowed us to remind ourselves of some of the sights and just start winding down!
I would love to hear from you!
