It is good to take time out from sightseeing, and you can do this by walking along the River Segre in Lleida.
The River Segre
The Segre rises in the Pic de Segre, in France, and eventually flows into the Ebro River at Mequinenza. It is 265 kms (165 miles) long. One of its tributaries is the Cinca River, which we were going to meet in Bielsa, in the Pyrenees. There are two parks close to the river which, sadly, we didn’t see. The Parc des Camps Elisis was quite close to the walk below, but La Mitjana Park, which looks wonderful, was just too far for me to walk as I was nursing my back through a bad spell.

The Parador of Lleida
The hotel was originally the Convent of Roser, a Dominican Order which was built at the end of the 17th century. After the expropriation of church property by Mendizabal in the 1830s, the building was used for a variety of secular purposes, and it was only in the current century that it was considered for a hotel. The Parador opened as recently as 2017. The church, with a high, vaulted ceiling is now the main dining room of the Parador, and a very imposing room. Unlike older paradors, there are no antiques in the corridors, which are plain, but there were some rather wonderful cartoons for tapestries.
The food was good, the room was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and kind.

We were surprised by the area surrounding the Parador. It seemed rather downmarket, and in parts, derelict.

Walking along the River Segre is relaxing, and the Parador provided a very comfortable and pampered existence at all times of the day!
I would love to hear from you!
