The Parador Sos del Rey Catolico is just fabulous! The accommodation is excellent, the staff are helpful, and the food is marvellous.
The building
The hotel1 dates from 1975 and the architect was Dn. Manuel Sainz de Vicuña y García Prieto. It stands against the walls at the lower end of the town and fits perfectly into the local architecture.

Inside the Parador
A statue of Ferdinand II of Aragon and his mother, Juana Enriquez, stand just inside the entrance to the hotel. He was born in Sos on 10 March 1452. He and his wife, Isabella I of Castile, were known as the Reys Catholics. They sponsored the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1492, but perhaps more importantly, they were the kings who expelled the Arabs from Granada and laid the foundations of a united Spain.

The garden
The Parador has small but beautifully kept areas of garden, including the terrace under the dining room and the formal patio below.

And high above the patio is a small area of lawn next to the walls, with some chairs where you can enjoy the late afternoon sunshine. And bordering the lawn the roses were still flowering in late September.

The views
This little bench was placed in a corner of the garden, on the walls, looking into the top of the town and the mountain pass which we crossed on the road from Carcastillo, and Sadaba.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay in this wonderful parador.
