The NIS PR3 walk at Velada

This walk, NIS PR3, starts at the hydroelectric station at Velada on the River Nisa and you either download information or pick up a brochure or book of walks at the tourist office in Nisa. This was a lovely walk from 2017 but which never made it to the blogsite.

5.75 kms, c.2 hours

Flowers were everywhere, in all shades. Here are some yellow flowers:

Tolpis Barbata (!)

There were also pink flowers, sometimes in considerable drifts!

Winged lavender

There were even blue flowers, but I can’t find the name of this one either!

The walking is easy and relaxed, and peaceful, and shortly you reach the River Tagus.

There is a rather steep uphill on this walk, with more views of the River Tagus, extraordinary rock formations, and flowers. And of course with every ‘up’ comes a ‘down’!

And so back to the River Nisa, loop completed, and a return along the same path as the way out. This is a lovely walk – do try it.
