Mougau Bihan megalith

What a day! A walk around Huelgoata visit to Commana Churchand then the first Neolithic construction! Great!

Brittany has a long history of habitation, what is called ‘prehistory’, although I don’t understand the term – how can you have ‘pre’ history if something was actually happening? Anyway, Neolithic culture in Brittany lasted from c.5,000BC to c.2,000BC – pretty staggering. Just outside Brennilis is an Allée Couverte called Mougau Bihun and dating to c.3,000BC. This is a covered, passageway tomb and belongs to the later Neolithic culture. There is more information and photographs on the splendid Megalithic Portal.

There are apparently many engravings inside the tomb, but this is all I could make out.
