The Church of San Juan del Mercado in Benavente is over one thousand years old and retains a silently mysterious atmosphere which I loved.

The church dates from there 12th century, and is similar in age to Santa Maria.

The church is quite dark inside – I have lightened the photographs considerably.
I loved this church – the darkness, the mystery, and the calm and quiet, and visited more than once.
