Enjoying food in Leon

We stayed in an AirBnB in Léon and after a day’s walking were too tired to go out for dinner – we also wanted to eat rather earlier than the average Spaniard!

We shopped in a nearby Aldi, and a Carrefour Express which did very good bread. On the way into the town was an excellent fish shop which kept me very happy, and then there was the inevitable tortilla, squid or octopus if we had a lunchtime drink, or something sweet to accompany coffee or tea during the day. And of course there was a weekly, outdoor marketwonderful fruit, vegetables, and cheeses. There is no need to go hungry while exploring!

And finally… I had passed this coffee shop several times and was determined to indulge. That pastry roll was filled with pastry cream and absolutely wonderful and the sponge cake that was the ‘tapa’ and came regardless of anything else we ordered!
