Every time I visit the church, and the heavy door swings slowly open, I catch my breath at the burst of colour and peaceful atmosphere inside the Church of St Suliau in Sizun.

The ceiling is a glorious blue, with red and gold beams and carved stringbeams linking the blue to the painted walls.

The organ was built in 1682-84 by Thomas Dallam, who also built the organ in St Guimiliau.

The stained glass windows of the saints were made by Jacques le Chevalier in 1976, but I don’t know if he was also responsible for the pink-toned windows at the high altar.
