A Pilgrimage between Lampaul-Guimiliau & Guimiliau

Lampaul-Guimiliau and Guimiliau are home to two of the most iconic of the Enclos Paroissiaux and it seemed a good idea to undertake a ‘pilgrimage’ between the two.
We created a circular walk whic started in Lampaul-Guimiliau by following the red lines on the map (PRs and GRs) and walked along quiet roads, green lanes, rivers, woods, and open rolling hills – lovely. There was the usual wayside calvary, marking the way, and sometimes it was muddy…

And then we walked into Guimiliau – wow!

Just outside the town is this small fountain, St Miliau?, hidden in the hedging…

And then we plunged again into green lanes between tall, earth banks covered in ferns; wandered down grassy paths; and suddenly we were in sunny and open farmland. But within two minutes we rushed into the trees and huddled under our umbrellas in the middle of a deluge!

But this was Brittany and after five minutes we could continue – over the railway line, through a hamlet, past the cows, and finally Lampaul-Guimiliau came into view.

Just a little peep inside the church at Lampaul-Guimiliau for now – another post to come!

Guimiliau is extraordinary, in the real sense of the word, and the details on the building and the calvary absolutely fascinating – post coming!

I would love to hear from you!
