There are several ways in which one can travel to France – plane, train, and ferry. I enjoy the slow transition from frenetic everyday life in the UK to travelling in France which is offered by the cross-channel ferries. In particular, embarking at Portsmouth in the evening, enjoying a good dinner and a night’s sleep, and then landing in St Malo in the early morning seems particularly civilised!
Stretching one’s legs with a walk along the sea wall of the old town of St Malo is good before finding a good cup of coffee and crunchy croissants… bliss

I have never been dissatisfied and must admit have not tried any other crossing! The dinner was indeed excellent!

Brittany ferries via StMalo is one of my regular and posibly favourite ways of making the crossing. It’s the only mode of travel which is relaxing. The food is usually excellent.
