I pushed open the double doors and found magic!

The Church of St Guimiliau

On either side of the main altar are the Altarpiece of the Rosary (L); and the Altarpieces of St Guimiliau (R), depicting different episodes in his life, and St Joseph (R). All, dating from the 17C, are richly carved and decorated.

Even the railings in front of the main altar and the lectern are carved and decorated.

The body of the church shows its age, with columns which curve, carved beams, and a Baptistry which doesn’t quite fit.

The organ was built by Thomas Dallam II, an English organ builder, in 1677. The family were a dynasty of organ builders and Thomas Dallam II settled in France.
