It is hard to believe another year has ended. For the first time I am looking back over my travels, thinking about what was achieved, what I hoped to do and what I didn’t complete.

Bradshaw’s Hand Book to London continued to guide and delight my historical explorations in Southwark, Waterloo, Kennington, and Lambeth. I would like to return to the City of London with the new camera and another Victorian guidebook…

Mr Bradshaw directed me to The Thames and I started visiting the bridges from London Bridge westwards. It was fun! And in 2016 I plan to walk from the source of the Thames to Hampton Court.

I walked the Ravensbourne River, an unexpected rural adventure in south east London. This was in pursuit of a photographic project. However the New River Walk, started in 2014, remains unfinished… Perhaps in 2016…And perhaps some more travel in Suffolk…

Explorations in Portugal continued with a magical week in the Alentejo: Flor da Rosa, Castelo do Vide, Tomar, and the Monastery of St Jeronimos were all unforgettable.

My annual French Travel Fix was a few weeks in Brittany in September – absolutely wonderful! The Vannes, the Enclos Paroissials, walks, Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne, Carnac – I will return in 2016…

The Enthusiastic Gardener brought together my gardening interests. And underpinning the travelling was a photography course at Morley College. I progressed from ‘point & press’ to using a Canon 600D DSLR and I discovered Ansel Adams, amongst others. Wonderful – thank you Lydia Evans! But what will 2016 bring?
