Travelling in France, Day 1

posted in: France, Home, Travel | 2

London Diary abandoned Mr Bradshaw’s Hand Book to London for travel in France and because there were so many wonderful sights I am going to do a series of French posts! Clothes, books, music, cameras, and guidebooks were packed into the car and we set off for Portsmouth and Brittany Ferries to Caen, France.

As the ship sailed we passed battleships, new and old – HMS Illustrious (1982), HMS Victory, Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805, and HMS Warrior (1860).

And at the entrance to the port, the Spinnaker Tower – it seems that towns need to be branded in some way these days!

This leisurely crossing is a chance to rest, have a good dinner, and finally arrive at Ouistreham, the port for Caen, in the evening.

Oh, nice to be missed! I loved the days in France and I hope that will come through in the posts. I will also be completing my explorations with Mr Bradshaw this autumn, and completing the New River – quite a busy time ahead.

I had wondered what had happened to you, posts most days then silence …..I do like the a Spinnaker Tower a great addition to the Portsmouth waterfront.

I would love to hear from you!
